Austin Phillips

Austin Phillips is a leading figure in the electric vehicle transition and implementation space throughout Australia and New Zealand. Since 2018 he is one of the few people in the heavy vehicle industry to have developed, bought, sold, operated and analysed electric vehicles, giving him unique insights on success factors and challenges of the transition. 

 

Austin’s career has primarily been the bridge between the customer operational needs and technical capabilities of nascent technologies. He has led the development of the world’s first EV municipal tipper truck (2019), aviation refuellers (2022-2024) and hydrant dispensers (2023-2024). In 2023 he formed ERIX Technology Services working with fleets regarding transition planning, strategy and technology guidance. ERIX also works with EV fleets in risk critical environments including aviation, critical infrastructure, shipping and insurance alongside partners such as EV FireSafe and Zurich Resilience Solutions.

Brad Olsen

Brad Olsen

Brad Olsen is the Principal Economist and Director at Infometrics, widely recognized for his sharp economic insights across New Zealand’s media and public discourse. He began his career at Infometrics in 2015 as a part-time analyst while studying at Victoria University, quickly rising to become one of the country’s youngest and most influential economic voices. His work spans forecasting, regional analysis, and bespoke consulting projects, including public policy costings in education and healthcare. In 2019, he co-authored the Regional Wellbeing report and developed a framework to help communities improve local outcomes.

Originally from Whangarei, Brad holds degrees in Economics, Public Policy, International Relations, and Political Science. He’s passionate about the intersection of economics, wellbeing, and regional development. Beyond his professional role, Brad actively contributes to civic life as New Zealand’s youngest Justice of the Peace and engages with several leadership and youth organizations. His dedication to service earned him the Queen’s Young Leader award in 2016, with the rare honor of meeting the Queen three times.

Christine Martin is Head of Operations and Broker Engagement at Steadfast New Zealand, bringing over 30 years of experience in the insurance sector. She began her career with an insurer, building a strong foundation in insurance operations and market dynamics before transitioning into broking.

Christine has held senior roles with major brokerages, including Aon as a Regional Manager—where she oversaw 14 offices during a period of regional network growth—and PSC Insurance Group, serving as National Broker Services Manager and Central Region Manager from 2018 to 2022. In these roles, she led initiatives focused on network expansion, operational alignment, and knowledge sharing. 

Since joining Steadfast New Zealand in 2022, Christine has focused on broker engagement, operational delivery, and network development, supporting the organisation’s continued growth across New Zealand.

Tim Mathieson joined Steadfast Group in 2015 and has over 25 year’s industry experience, most recently as CEO of QIB Group, one of the largest insurance broking groups in Australasia.  

He was previously Head of Broker Network at Steadfast and prior to this held several leadership roles with QBE Insurance which he joined as a graduate in 1998.  

He holds an MBA, Master of Insurance and Risk Management, and Bachelor of Commerce. He is an ANZIIF Fellow, AICD Graduate and director of more than 10 companies, including the Steadfast Foundation.  

Tim has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer – Australasia Broking effective 1 July 2025.

Detective Inspector Stuart Mills

Stuart has led the Intercept and Technology Operations Group since late 2020 overseeing the New Zealand Police responsibilities for Cybercrime Investigations, Digital Forensics, Covert Online Investigations and Lawful Interception. These technically focused areas have seen a significant increase in demand due to the increased use of technology throughout the world.

For a period of six years Stuart was part of the National Organised Crime Group where he was responsible for national organised crime investigations undertaken by the Wellington office which focused on transnational organised crime. Prior to this he was the Strategy and Liaison Manager where his role included developing strategic responses to the Whole of Government Action Plan to reduce the harm caused by New Zealand Adult Gangs and Transnational Crime Groups. He led the review of OFCANZ which resulted in the establishment of the National Organised Crime Group in 2017.

Stuart has previously been the coordinator for the multi-agency National Drug Intelligence Bureau. The Bureau comprised representatives from the New Zealand Customs Service, the Ministry of Health, and the New Zealand Police. He successfully restructured the bureau into a strategically focused drug intelligence unit, providing strategic forecasting of illicit drug issues impacting New Zealand. Stuart presented regularly on the New Zealand response to illicit drugs domestically and internationally.

Prior to this, he specialised in intelligence, specifically Threat Assessments and National Security Intelligence, as the Manager of the Strategic Intelligence Unit.
