Tākina is an accessible location if you’re catching a train or bus. If you are driving please note that there are no dedicated parking spaces available at Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre. Instead, guests can park at any of the nearby parking facilities including the Te Papa car park, Barnett Street carpark, Century City car park and Wakefield car park.
The Welcome Function will take place on Sunday at The Deck, located within Dockside Restaurant and Bar. This stunning venue, originally built in 1887, is now a heritage-listed site recognised by the Wellington City Council. It stands as one of the oldest surviving structures integral to the operation of Wellington’s historic wharves.
Initially constructed as a single-storey warehouse, the building was later expanded in the 20th century to include a second level for Harbour Board tugboat crews. Timber buildings like this once lined the waterfront from Taranaki Street to Pipitea Wharf, but today, Shed 3 is among the few that remain, offering a rare glimpse into the city’s maritime past.
